  • Fun in the foodlanes

Lately when I’ve been at the local foodmart, my favorite being Kroger, I’ve had some fun experiences while shopping.  Usually there is someone there that you click with while strolling thru the isles or is at least experiencing some of the sticker shock or just out to have a good time while shopping and making the best of it and being cordial.  Who isn’t recognizing the rise in food prices.  The older I get the more I notice it and have started sounding like my parents and their parents before them when telling of how low prices were when they were younger.  Anyway, the last couple of time in the oatmeal/cereal section there has been just one box of the whole oats so I get that one.  There is a run on oatmeal or I’m always hitting it on a, NEED TO RESTOCK MOMENT.  The soup section is my favorite because I’m always stocking up on soups (bean and tomatoe laughing)  I have been having some fun convos in the soup section and last time this woman was standing there with me and she grabbed a can of vegetable beef soup and said, I gotta get more of this since my son ate the last of it, EVERY LAST BIT OF IT!  Sympathetically, I turned and said well then he outta be here restocking the pantry with it.  As she rolled her cart away, she yelled back, He’s 30 years old and well his girlfriend has a coupon for the Outback restaurant so he’s out with her tonight for dinner.  I yelled back, Oh heck no, THAT JUST AIN”T RIGHT!  She shook her head in agreement and continued shopping.  I almost turned and said, hey we outta get outta here and go to the OUTBACK and surprise them and tell em were on a date, LOL.  I mean really stunned I bet that would of taken the snap outta his bloomin onion pleased

  • LMBO! That would have been hilarious!!! But then the last time I went out to eat it was a bit of a sticker shock as well. But y’all could have just went and had appetizers.

  • LOL, I’m with ya on the sticker shock.  Eating out is more of a planned event than its been in the past for that reason.  Anytime I’m treating myself or someone else to a dinner out I always tell myself that I’m stimulating the economy in a mindful of me budget kinda way : ).  I think its the season for going thru the stash and clearin it out sorta thing since I’ve been doing that too and found some stuff that I either forgot I had gotten or found and now realize I’ll never make what I had planned to make out of it and then pass it on to a friend or bring to the quilting group I’ve been hanging out with.  Glad you kept some yarn at easy access while packing or you’d probably find yourself dialing yarn 911 for back up or quickly form a cloud of dust behind the wheels of your car as you make a B line to the nearest LYS, LOL.  Thanks for posting the scrubbi video.  While watching it I thought, I think I see a spiral hat in the near future.
