  • There is a light at the end of the tunnel, yes I can actually see it

Yes, there is a light at the end of  the tunnel and I can see it getting brighter and feel the warmth of its hopeful rays.  Geesh, I sure have gotten an education out of how this medical care system works.  It’s like the don’t ask don’t tell policy for gays in the military except they don’t tell unless you ask.  It really surprises me what info can be withheld or won’t be offered until your allready up the creek without a paddle or stuck paying an outrageous amount for a medication.  It’s not until you start slewthing around and asking questions and gathering info that you find out there are alternatives that can be much more affordable or other ways of doing things.  Don’t get me wrong there are many helpful medical care professionals out there.  It’s just surprising how many of them arn’t willing to give you more info until your in tears or at your whits end and then they all of a sudden got a cheaper alternative to what you were presented with after your already well into debt with it.

It’s kinda like my accountant who I will no longer be using anymore.  She is very thorough yet when it comes to actually getting a quote of what it will cost out of her shes just not very specific about it and gives you the well I charge this much an hour stuff.  Well, I finally said, look all I want to know is what your charging for my end of the years taxes, I hear you when your saying how much you charge an hour but that isn’t telling me any thing, can you give me an estimate with what info I have presented to you as to what it might cost.  So then she says we will just send you an invoice.  I simply said what I need to know if you can tell me what it might cost approximately so that I can make a decision on as to wheather or not to afford your services.  She now charges for the end of the years taxes what it used to cost to do all the years statements as well as the end of the years taxes.  So its like the same price but just getting the end of the year taxes done.  So I questioned her invoice which gave info differing from what she had told me over the phone and her answer was, Well that must be a typo so disreguard that.  What would people think if I just sat them down for a haircut and estimated the price and then told them it would be over what I was giving them the impression of what the price would be for a haircut.  They would be ticked for sure.  I told her I’ve run my business for 12 years and have the prices clearly displayed and if there is something that would differ for a service I let the customer know before doing something and then slapping them with a bill so they can make the decision.  I just think that is a plain tacky way to run a business and won’t be funding her operation any more.  Ha, I think this is my year to make changes and get rid of people that are just plain ripping me off.

  • Pressed lip smile and shrugged sholders

Yes, I think the pressed lipped smile and shrugged sholders look is slowly beginning to take the place of the smiley face.  Thats the look I get every time I’m trying to talk with someone about my health services/coverage and bills that have amounted since I had the prostrate biopsy.  I’m so freekin ticked.  It’s like well you were willing to have it.  Only after I was scared to death by the grim predictions, poked and prodded and told I should really get the biopsy since he (the doctor) was convinced that I had prostate cancer.  Well, if you ever have to get something like that done or any proceedure make sure you call your health care provider first.  I thought it would all be covered by my insurance which is what my doctor told me when I asked him.  That is the wrong person to ask since the doc ain’t the one who knows.  Now that I can look back on it all, no one ever told me to check with my provider and now I’m stuck with all these bills, plus a raise in my co-pay and having to  pay the medical bills that have aquired (of which they send to you with the words – PAY NOW- in big letters on them)  Then I call my health insurance company to try and get a better rate and its like no matter where you turn its all the same.  Less money/less coverage but more outta your pocket or more money with more coverage and still your premiums will go up every year.  I asked are you sure they will go up every year?  The lady said, without hesitation, Yes, EVERY YEAR.  Okay, so I said, back to her at that rate by the time I’m 60 years old from what your saying my premiums will be 900 to 1000 dollars .  WTF?  Plus, that doesn’t account for if you ever get sick.  I’ve only had health insurance for about 3 years and for one I found I’m rather nieve as to how things work with it when you need to use it and finding myself on the verge of not being able to afford it.  Not to mention the crappy treatment I got at the urologists office.  For one they injured my arm when the overworked staff member was way too busy, answering the phone, taking in patients, taking payments and drawing blood.  My arm was soar for 3 MONTHS! .  That has never happened to me before so I complained and noticed the next time I went in she wasn’t drawing blood, but still I had to put up with the pain.  The urologist had the personality of a cardboard likeness of himself and seemed overworked and tired.  When I told him about my arm he rolled his eyes and said, he could only imagine who the gal was.  They would call with these automated message with reminders of someones appt. but they had my number down for this person.  Then when I would call to tell them they had my number but the wrong person just to give them heads up that the person may not be getting the reminder for their apt.  I’d get stuck on the automated message carrosel and wouldn’t be able to speak to a real person and didn’t have time to wait thru it all in between doing customers so then finally a real person called and I was able to tell them that, NO I am not William but you got my phone number down for him.  The office is so poorly run and I told them I wasn’t coming back and then they sent me a letter telling me that since I failed to make a follow up apt. that they would not be able to serve me any more but would extend a 30 day care period till I could find a new urologist.  I sent a letter back telling them NO I am not interested in your 30 day extension, your suggestions, or your ill treatment and thanks for telling me that you don’t want to help me.  I don’t need their help and its kinda funny how they have a monopoly on the urology gig here since they all teamed up and have one place where they all work out of.  WHAT-EVER!  Welcome to America and the wonderful, affordable health service system.  I say, service because its certainly not health care.

  • Exploring New Sorces for Fiber

Ah, while at the Auto-mat doing laundry and watching the Ellen show I couldn’t help but notice a new fiber source, WOO HOO!!!  Right there caught in the wheels of the laundry roller carts, LOL, .  I won’t be using that as a fiber sorce but I always have an appreciation for threads no matter where ya might find em

Hope everyone is having a good week

  • Some where under the rainbow

Jee Willi-kers,  I was off visiting my wonderful new fellow in the foothills in N.C. and we were headed off to Greensboro to visit some of his friends and it had just finished raining.  Well, the sun was coming out and he said look over there you will probably see a rainbow.  I said, well how do you know it would be over there.  He said, well the sun is over here so the way it works the rainbow would be over there, Duh, LOL.  Well, low and behold there was an incredible full arch of a DOUBLE RAINBOW  right there where he said it would be .  We pulled off the road in a clearing and sat and looked at it.  IT WAS AMAZING and how nice to share it with someone your very fond of .  HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!!!!  I’ve been lazy about updating since after my move I’ve been high tailing it to the foot hills to spend time with my honey .  WOO HOO!!!

  • Now that I’m moved in and starting to get some sense of order in the room I’m in at mommas, I went and got a phone so I could talk at leasure while in this room.  So I got out on a phone search and just wanted to get a simple land line phone.  Well, they had two choices.  The black 1930′s looking phone like in the movie, Dial M for Murder  or the pink princes style phone like from the 60′s .  The black one would have been my choice but it was so cheaply made that I just could not bring myself to get it although I FREEKIN love those types of phones.  So, decided to get the pink princess phone, LOL.  It’s very sturdy and made out of a nice weight plastic.

Instead of the old style rotary dial its got push buttons in a circle.  Push buttons in a circle takes some getting use too.  Its like workin a hoola-hoop instead of square dancing when dialing.  LOL, at first my fingers were like,  what do you want us to do with that, too funny!!!  Ha, this phone is so cool and reminds me of the days when you would just sit and talk on the phone.  You know like just talk.  Not multi-task, like while driving, washing dishes, feeding the rabbit or using the water closet, LOL.  How many times have you gotten a call from someone and then hear noises that clearly signify they are at the loo.  LOL,  we’ve come a long way baby

  • Circus Bound

Okay, I feel totally qualified to join the circus.  I don’t know what is up with people.  Maybe it was the last full moon we had or just scratchy underwear or something.  I mean eveyone has been so figgity and animated lately, Hmmm, maybe too much coffee, and I’m talking adults here.  I feel like I’ve been cutting peoples hair from in the back of a run away wagon with one arm tied behind my back over rough terrain.  I cut my finger and haven’t done that in a long, long, long time so it will be so nice to see sunday when it gets here, WHEW,

  • DONE MOVIN

WHEW, finally got done moving and starting to get things all settled now,   Glad to get that accomplished.  So soon to be back blogging again  WOO HOO!!!

  • 6ft & SXY

Ha, yesterday morning I got up way early and got that hitch-in-my-git-along and got an early start at the laundrymat.  It was just me and this really tall african american chick.  Well, we are in there and doin are thing, slinging clothes, fillin up washers, banging the lids closed and I looked up out the window and noticed a license plate that said, 6ft & SXY.  Since she is tall and shes the only in there with me I said, is that your license plate, I love it!  Ha, that broke the ice and we had a blast talkin about all kinds of things.

  • Ha, I’m finally putting up pics from the MSWF.  Okay I’m not sure if this is an alpaca or Lama.  I always get them mixed up.  Look at this fello.  Ha, looks like he got a poodle cut.  A vendor down the way that has angora rabbits that I always love to visit has coats that she makes for Lamas/Alpacas out of denim.  Now that is what I call stylin and profilin .  I actually bought a bag of angora alpaca mix that is a nice rich brown that I want to spin on my handspindle.

Hey LOOK  there go some cotswold sheep.  I love them!

Make way here come sheepy with hair, clear the way, Ha, I think this is another of my favorites Karakul.

This gal was a delight to talk with.  She was so informative and patient about explaining what she was doing and just sharing what she was passionate about.  Ha, I spent a good deal of time talking with her both days .  I don’t remember her name.  She was demonstrating tablet weaving.  They had some awsome examples of it.  Her outfit is edged in tablet woven trim .  Plus the garment she made were sewn with a bone needle and thread she had spun on her handspindle.  WAY TOO COOL!  There was a woman doing bobbin lace too.  I didn’t get her pic but it was amazing and the hand made lace is so much more richer looking than the machine made stuff you see in stores today.  She had one piece she said she had been working on for 3 years .  See I don’t feel so bad about my almost done alien illusion scarf still sitting in the basket, LOL. They had awsome examples of knitted bags.  Another lady was really neat and shared her knowledge of knitting, it history at that time, mideval times, and she had some really neat copies of some originals found and now in meusums.  She was working on a pair of breeches that were amazing.  She told me she had made a pair for a gentlemen to wear for re-enactments and they ended up being too small so she is making another pair.  I wish I had taken a picture.  What people wore back then is kinda weird, the breeches have a cod piece which is kinda funny when you think about it.  There was a warp weighted loom and OMG, Sprang!  Do you know what Sprang is?  Its like weaveing but your twisting warp threads that form like a netting type of fabric sort of like whats done for hammocks.  There was this really cool sample someone had done out of fine gold thread for a head cover.  I should taken pictures of those but alas na merrily I say unto thee I didn’t take many pics of the finished objects.  The samples of bobbin lace were absolutely amazing.  Have a great week everyone!

  • Happy Cinco de Mayo

    SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE,

    SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE,

    SHAKE YOUR CHURRO,

    SHAKE YOUR CHURRO!!!!

Got back from MSWF late last nite and had a blast!  The weather was awsome!!!!!  There is so much realling in my head from it all that I need time to process it all before I start blogging about it.

Here are two links to sites in honour of Cinco de Mayo.

    http://www.moifa.org/eventsedu/education/muertos/papelpicado.html

I like the paper cuts and paper flowers that are used for decorations during Cinco de Mayo .  You can find info about those on the sites.

Okay, so I’m ticked the calendula (pot marigolds) I planted have been practically pecked to death.  Apparantley birds really like these.  At least I think that is what has practically devowered them.  Looking closely at them they looked like they have been pecked at instead of chewed.  But some of the ones pecked to the quick are developing some new growth so those may be salvagable.  Any way, while at the MSWF they have nice plants for sale and one vendour had calendula seeds so snagged those in the hopes it won’t be too late to get those started.  So just put those in and will go and get some bamboo to arch over the planter and then put some netting over it to hopefully keep the critters away till they get big enough to fend for themselves.  Here’s a pic of whats left, WHA

So lets hope the new seeds get a hitch in their git-along and get to growin .

    Happy Spring everyone!!!!
