Haven’t been thrifting in awhile so since the weather was wonderful yesterday I decided to venture out and see what was out there.  Got this metal shelf/rack for my sis in law.  She was looking for something to put shoes on so thought this would work.  Then found this scarf.  It’s by guy st honore.  Just thought it was cool looking and looked like spring so I’m gonna find a way to hang it up like a picture, WOOT!  The shelf was $3.98 and the scarf was $1.99.  I love thrift shopping

Decided to take an entrelac knitting class along with the nail tech a local knit shop.  As busy as my schedule has been lately its been a nice diversion.  This knitting technique looks more complicated than it is.  I went by to sign up for the class and the techer happened to be there and she ashored me that it was easier than it looked and she showed me some amazing things she had made using the technique.  So far this is what I have done and it is like knitting drunk or Katy-wampas, LOL, its just crazy.  Like who invented this kind of knitting.  This is going to be a scarf.   

Gosh its been so long that I’ve been on here that the way ya add an entry has changed, LOL.  It’s nice but now I gotta familiarize myself with it.  I’ve been having craft add.  There is this paint your own pottery place down the road called Color Me Mine.  Last summer when I was slow at work I’d take a break and go paint a cup or two.  This is my favorite one.  I was trying to make it look like one of those Egyptian type wall paintings and of course she’s gotta have some fun hair.  Now I gotta experiement and bring some of my own brushes cause they didn’t have thin ones to work with.  It was a lotta fun.  I really like the shape of this mug.  Now I want to come up with some knitting themed ones. 

  There hasn’t been a whole lot of knitting going on but I did make a huge hat.  That I was working on when my mom was in rehab last xmas.  Well, when I started it it was way too big but then I liked the stitch so just decided to keep working on it and it came out huge.  It would make a great tea cozy, LOL.  The yarn was this bright hot pink.  It’s done in the butterfly stitch so pink yarn goes good with butterfly’s, right.  I signed up to do a yarn bombing and really don’t know what to yarnbomb so decided to use the hat so maybe I’ll yarnbomb myself or someone else, heck I don’t know, but I’ll keep ya-all posted. 

  I can tell the days are getting longer and its sooooooo great!  I’m sooooooooo looking forward to spring .

Ain’t been on here in a dogs age but have been reading just not much posting in case you haven’t noticed.  So much has been going on.  Yesterday, mom and I went to her doctors appt. and now she is able to walk around with one of those 4 pronged canes .  It was a lot of walking, since we went to the doctors appt., postoffice, picked up meds, then the DMV for her handicapped tag, then Costco, too.  She was like an energizer bunny.  Heck it wore me out.   She wanted to drive to the doctors appt. but I told her it wasn’t a good day for her to practice driving, for one - that far, it was raining like cats and dogs, there was flooding and accidents/delays everywhere being reported on the news and she was insisting on using her car.  So we end up using her car which has tags on it for getting on and off the base and when we get there the guard tells us they were expired.  He was nice enough to let us in and after her doctors appt. we went over to the office to get a new updated one.  We did a high 5 when we got home since we got so much done, WOO HOO!  Even got a new pair of jeans and some underwear, LOL at Costco. 

Haven’t done any knitting at all lately and I’ve been moving around the projects that are almost done from here to there.  Maybe I’ll get to them some time soon.  I’ve just been on a knit-cation so to speek.  Since I’ve been feeling old and out of shape and just like burnt out from the past two years I’ve decided its time to take better care of myself.  So I’ve started doing more exercising with some weights and got a bike to do some cycling.  Yet, the weather hasn’t been very nice for cycling yet except for a day or two but I’m ready for when it comes.  Have you seen those commercials for the power 90 and other workout type of programs you can order from the t.v.  Well, they show these people who do the workout routines before and after pics and how in 90 days how in shape they get.  Ha, I’m thinking of doing that on here to catalog my progress.  I know I got this as a knitting blog and there will still be knitting but there will be other stuff too .  LOL, so if ya see my bare yet tasteful torso pic on here don’t be alarmed, LOL.  I’m thinking I can do the same kinda thing without the program and just do my own exercises and see what I look like in 90 days.  I’ll also post what I’m eating in as much as trying to eat a healthier diet, as well as what type of exercises I’m doing. Heck, March is almost gone already I better drop and do 20 pushups………

I’ve been antsy about tryin to spruce up the environment in the room I’m staying in so heres a pic of the new colour scheme all inspired by the quilt I got in the hills of N.C.  Went out and got two more pillows for about 4 bucks a piece then some chocolate brown and fuschia purple pillow cases for about 12 bucks and then used a really cool piece of fabric I got outta the scrap binn at JoAnnes for a small pillow for some POP!  I like all the colours.  They make me happy and the quilt is a great warm one and funky.  

I really like this quilt.  It’s made out of all kinds of stuff that I suppose expert quilters wouldn’t use because its got wool, polyester, and other unknown fabrics.  But the colours were cool and it was only 20 bucks so I had to have it.  If you can see it its tied with this variegated purple and white thread.  It looks like it is that crochet type cotton thread.  I just have to make sure to fold the edge down on it when I go to sleep because those ties are like little fingers and will tickle you and wake you up, LOL.

WOW, it snowed all day yesterday .  Hasn’t snowed like that since like aroud 95.  Here’s some pics.  I’m not sure how they determine the amount of inches for snow fall but I took a ruler outside to show how it piled up on this planter.  The pictures of the yard were taken early on when the show started and before I went and shoveled the porch and the sidewalk.

It’s freekin cold, LOL.  Had to go out and brush the car off with a broom.  See it way down at the end of the fence.  Mom got a pass to go out today but I don’t think its advisable.  Her doctors appt is tommorrow and then we can see if she can put weight on her leg.  I hope its healed enough but you don’t want to rush it either.  Anyway, we will see.  They have this service you can call to come and get a patient and bring them from point A to B for doc appts. etc.  Sorta like a taxi for people in wheel chairs.  It looks like a mini van and it has this ramp thing that comes out and they just wheel ya in and secure the wheel chair and then your on your way.  Well, mom wanted to try it in the jeep with a walker and a wheel chair.  I was like, I don’t think so, I don’t mind paying the 65 dollars to have the service do it besides its just more comfortable for her, easier for me, and with the snow and ice.  Hell to the no!  Besides the people opporating the service are really nice and professional.  I took one of their cards so I can call them if we need them again.  I just think its worth it.  I told her its on me and don’t freekin worry about it, LOL. 

Since I didn’t work yesterday because of the snow I was so glad to have the day to try and finish cleaning out this room if she needs to be downstairs for awhile.  Have you seen those shows about horders and pack rats.  Well, that is pretty much what we are dealing with here.  So just to keep my sanity instead of having goals like getting a whole room done in a day or weekend even.  Its easier to concentrate on just one pile, or a box or a corner of the room.  That way if you just do a little each day eventually you begin to see some progress.  I’t will be nice in the spring to be able to get to the glass sliding doors to open those if ya want, LOL.  I’ve fallen twice already trying to move stuff around and just manuever around it.  Anyway, its like an obstacle course but it is looking SO much better.  It was great to have a snow day to make some progress because I got so much done, WOO HOO!!!

 So not much has been done on knitting lately until things get more organized.  Mom is so wanting to get out of there.  I don’t blame her but she just needs to be patient.  So on that note off to do some paperwork and then off to see ma.  TTFN

Here’s a pic of the herringbone knit stitch that is used in the, my so called scarf, pattern being used on a I don’t know what it will be yet project.  I put this pic up so Lostarts and spinnermom could see howthe back looks.  It kinda looks like garter stitch in away.   I love this yarn that is karakul and its kinda like jute in a way coarse and hefty.  It’s the fiber that was/is used in rug making.  I bought it off ebay I think.  Its been so long ago that I’m not sure.  But its awsome. 

I put up both of these pictures even though the second one is awful.  But it shows that differrent lighting can give totally different effects.

Here’s Mitzi in her new dollar store frock.  I lost her leash after going to the vet today.  Probably left it there so decided to go to the dollar store to pick one up and then will call the vet tomorrow to see if they found it.  So while in the dollar store I saw they had some dog clothes.  So got 3 outfits and for 3 bucks that was a deal.  Most of the time with this stuff your kinda playin roullet because unless you got your critter with you your not sure how its gonna fit.  A lot of times the clothes are made outta stuff that you as a human wouldn’t put near your own skin.  From what I’ve seen of the prices for the outfits in the pet stores I’m not interested in spending that kind of money when she is going to tear it up soon anyway.  Plus its just for fun.  Besides you can make dog clothes outta baby clothes from the thrift store or outta your own old t-shirts or sweaters.  Any way, this little white outfit is made out of light weight cotton and attatches around her body with velcro.  She didn’t like the black dress and proceded to crew it up after I put the white one on.  You can see her chewing it up in her bed in the last pic. Then there is the little black t-shirt that has a rhinestone star on it.  I’m not happy with how that fit on her and you have to pull it over her head and get her arms thru it and it was tight and uncomfortable for her.  So the white dress wins.  One outta 3 ain’t bad .  Oh did I mention that trying to take a pic of a dog in a dress ain’t no picnic either, LOL.

She did well at her vet appointment today and got her second round of shots.  The vet also decided to put her on antibiotics for another 10 days to help clear up her ears that have this sort of rash thing going on with them.  Then all she needs is one more round of shots and then she will be up to date and will just have to have to keep them up to date.

She looks so much better and her coat is nice and smooth and shiny.  Its cool that she doesn’t shed at all from what I can tell so far .  Okay, so where did the weekend go?  I know it was here somewhere but I’ve been trying to move my body to keep up with all I had to do and somehow I was two steps behind and now the work week is apon me.  At least I got the laundry done and folded.  The only thing is I got it all over the house.  Who says you can’t get dressed in the dining room, HA!  TTFN 

Well, I finally got a scarf done for R that I was meaning to get done by Christmas but with all that was going on and being sick I didn’t get a darn thing done.  I usually send out cards but didn’t get a single one mailed out.  It was a scarf made using the stitch pattern from www.sheepinthecity.prettyposies.com/archives/000079.html 

I’ve used this pattern before and really like it.  I found it is easier to bind off on the purl side working in pattern but just binding off as you go.  R called tonight to say he got it and liked it, WOO HOO

It’s gotten cold again and I’ve restorted to wearing my scarf at work.  I don’t like wearing long sleeves or heavy clothes when I’m doing hair.  So usually I’m wearing some kinda t-shirt pull over type shirt that gives me freedom of movement and I don’t mind getting hair on and that can be laundered and dried easily.  I used to wear long sleeved dress shirts that were tucked in.  Well, the hair wants to work its way down between your shirt and pants (NOT FUN – EWWWW), dye gets on your shirt or bleach, then your good shirt is ruined.  One time I had backed into some brown dye in my khaki pants and don’t need to tell you what that looked like, LOL.  So I just don’t spend a lot of money on my work clothes.  I wear jeans and then a pull over shirt.  Nice and easy and affordable.  So when it got cold and the owner of the shop doesn’t turn on the heat until we are all complaining I decided to just start wearing my scarf in the shop.  Its awsome and its not too long and is just enough to keep the chill off.  So far I’ve gotten comments like, Are you feeling alright, is your throat sore, whats with the scarf, why are you wearing that, lol.  So that makes it even more fun to wear.  Ha, give em all somethin to talk about .  I should have said I’m trying to cover a really bad hickey, LOL. 

Oh, in critter news.  P gave me a soup bone (sholder bone I think) for Mitzi to chew on tonight as a treat.  Well, you would have thought it was her last meal or something.  She tore into it and was really enjoying it.  I went to take it away to save for later and she growel and snarled at me like Cujo.  So we had to have a little talk, LOL, its in the fridge so she can ejoy it tomorrow.  TTFN

This is what Mitzi does when shes already been out for her walk had a nice breakfast and played around with her toys for awhile.  She’s used to me picking her up and letting her cuddle and sleep in my lap when I’m on the computer or eating breakfast.  Well, I don’t pick her up all the time since I gotta eat in peace sometimes, LOL.  So anyway, she will get on my calfs and push her head up between my legs and try and climp up on my lap.  LOL.  She’ll somehow manage to perch herself on my calfs and kinda balance there.  Ha, too funny.  I’ve been thinking of making this papoos sorta thing to carry her around in but then she can’t get used to that all the time.  I might as well use some adhesive backed velcro and stick her to my hip, LOL. 

My hands have been so dry with all the shampooing and hand washing going on.  That my finger tips have split and are SOOOO, Freekin sore, argh.  It makes typing painful

Ah, my hairdresser weekend is here (sun and mon) So glad to see the work week over with.  Having this cold I was moving so slowly in the mornings and ended up being late every morning, .  I’m afraid to say I feel better anymore since the last two times I did this dang cough came back and I feel miserable.   Went back to the doctor and he prescribed an inhailer.  It helps but I get a headache from using the dang thing.  I’ll just be glad when this cold/flu is amscrayed outta here.   Anywho, customers where understanding but it seemed like I just couldn’t keep up with the day.  So’s this tired hairdoer is sooooooo glad to see sun/mon here, Ahhhhhhh.  It was also so very nice to have a sunny day with the temps in the 50′s.  What a nice break from all that cold weather.  I can even tell the days are getting longer. 

Okay, why does a dog (this critter) insist on sticking her nose under my arm, LOL, whats up with that.  What a freekin crazy critter.  When she sits in my lap and I’m bloggin she sticks her nose under my arm and snuggles in my lap.  LOL,  weird.  She better not do that with a wet nose when I’m wearing a sleeveless shirt this summer, Geesh. 

Tommorrow I’ll go see mom and we will either do her hair tommorrow or mon depending on when the salon room is open.  They got one of those stand up type dryers so maybe she will let me pincurl her hair.  Happy Sat!
